Making Federal Applications Easier

A recent commentary discussed the ongoing conversation in Washington about the need for improvement in the federal hiring process. This commentary notes that a recent hearing was an "important step in fixing a hiring process that produces more aggravation than appreciation for the way Uncle Sam does business." In addition to other improvements, The Federal Hiring Process Improvement Act would require that agencies keep candidates informed of the status of their applications. There is also discussion that the traditional lengthy job descriptions and required essays for federal positions could become a thing of the past.
