The American Civil Liberties Union Foundation (ACLU), founded in 1920,is a nationwide, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, with more than 500,000 members and is dedicated to the principles of liberty and equality embodied in the U.S. Constitution and our nations civil rights laws. The Voting Rights Project (VRP) of theACLU invites applications for the Summer Legal Internships in Atlanta, GA which will begin in Summer 2011.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The assignments will include:
•Conducting factual, legal research and working with clients.
•Assisting in the drafting of memoranda, complaints, discovery materials, briefs and other litigation documents.
•Providing assistance and advice to ACLU affiliates, private attorneys, governmental entities, and others who seek the ACLU's help
•Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications
First and second year law students are encouraged to apply. All law students, including 1Ls, may apply in advance for the spring term internship.

Applicants must possess:
•Excellent research, writing, analytical and communication skills.
•The initiative to see projects through to completion.
•The ability to work with a wide range of people.
•Applicants should have an interest in civil liberties and human rights.
