Equal Justice Works Job Fair Registration NOW OPEN



Registration for the Equal Justice Works 2010 Conference and Career Fair has opened!

On Oct. 22 and 23, over 1,000 students and law school professionals will come together for the opportunity to meet with more than 130 public interest employers, practitioners and leaders.

Student / Graduate Registration: Students may begin applying for posted positions and registering to attend using our new online system, JusticeWork! Information on how to register and a registration guide are available on our website.

Note: Some employers are still adding in job listings. Check back often for new listings or create a Job Agent in JusticeWork! to be notified of new listings as they are available.

Hotel accommodations: The Conference and Career Fair will take place at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, minutes from Washington, D.C. Be sure to book your hotel room for the discounted rate of $149 per night before the deadline of Friday, October 8. Use group code EQJEQJA.

Students may apply for interviews.

Employers will notify students if selected for interviews. Registered employers may post openings and position descriptions.

All interview notifications complete.

Registration for the Public Defender Advocacy, Training & Hiring Conference (PATH) is now available at http://www.pdsdc.org/LegalCommunity/CalendarItem.aspx?TrainingID=75 This biennial conference will take place at Georgetown University Law Center on Saturday, July 31, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Immediately following the conference, a networking happy hour at a local venue follows.

PATH is a free conference for law students committed to, or interested in exploring careers in, indigent criminal defense representation – the ‘PD committed’ and the ‘PD curious’. Students may choose from 12 sessions on the Advocacy, Training or Hiring tracks to self-direct their learning.

Family Law Conference


Students are invited to attend the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts' 47th Annual Conference, titled Traversing the Trail of Alienation: Rocky Relationships, Mountains of Emotion, Mile High Conflict, at the Sheraton Denver Downtown, June 2-5, 2010. The program features 90 sessions, including four plenary sessions and six all-day pre-conference institutes, on topics from alienation to negotiation, research to practice or domestic abuse to child abuse and neglect.

Registration is available at a reduced rate, more than 40 conference scholarships are available, and students who attend will be paired with a mentor/ experienced practitioner for ongoing mentoring. Attention Alumni ... Get Involved!



Jacksonville Area Legal Aid will be offering area attorneys three two-hour continuing legal education seminars over the next three months focusing specifically on small claims and the closely related issue of garnishment. The free seminars, held on Fridays (March 19, April 16 and May TBA) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Jacksonville City Hall, will count for 2.5 CLE credits each. Another GREAT Networking Event!!!


The 2009 Equal Justice Conference
May 14 – 16, 2009 in Orlando, Florida

The Equal Justice Conference brings together all components of the legal community to discuss equal justice issues as they relate to the delivery of legal services to the poor and low-income individuals in need of legal assistance. The emphasis of this Conference is on strengthening partnerships among the key players in the civil justice system. Through plenary sessions, workshops, networking opportunities and special programming, the Conference provides a wide range of learning and sharing experiences for all attendees.

Students: This is your opportunity to meet pro bono and legal services program staff, judges, corporate counsel, court administrators, private lawyers, paralegals, and many others who attend this event.

The main Conference will celebrate the ongoing collaboration between pro bono and legal services; explore additional partnerships that must be created, the resources that must be tapped, and the new issues facing clients.

GREAT Networking Opportunity!

The American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law invites students to a panel on Careers in Labor and Employment Law on April 3, 2009. During this event, experienced practitioners will provide plaintiff, labor union, government, and employer perspectives on the practice of employment law. This event will take place at 12:30pm to 2:00pm at the Ritz-Carlton Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, FL. The program is being presented as part of the Section of Labor and Employment Law’s National Conference on Equal Employment Opportunity Law which will be attended by more than 250 attorneys from around the country.

Law students attending the Careers in Labor and Employment Law Lunch are also invited to attend an Immigration for Employment Lawyers seminar from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, and a networking reception from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, at the Ritz-Carlton.

The University of Georgia School of Law invites students to attend the 4th Annual Working in the Public Interest Conference The conference will take place February 27-28, 2009 at the University of Georgia School of Law (approximately 65 miles northeast of Atlanta).
