Great Job For Recent Graduate


The PSLawNet Fellowship provides a wonderful opportunity for a public-interest minded
law graduate who also has an interest in nonprofit administration. Further, the fellowship offers a bird’s-eye view of the public interest arena for law graduates on public service career paths. PSLawNet, which is housed at NALP, is an “online career services center” for law students and lawyers interested in public service careers. The website contains the largest public interest law jobs database, detailed information on thousands of public interest and government employers, as well as a library of resources to aid job seekers and employers. The Fellow is the principal manager and administrator of the PSLawNet website. S/he will also have responsibilities for: development of online educational content, management of student interns, basic technology and data management, co-editing the PSLawNet Blog, interacting with NALP members, delivering presentations about PSLawNet, and other tasks as they arise.

The Polaris Project is current seeking law students to serve as Senior Legal and Policy Fellows in their Policy and Legal Department. Fellows will assist with advocacy and policy development for stronger comprehensive state and federal laws on human trafficking.


Responsibilities Include:

conducting legal and statutory research, monitoring pending legislation, preparing legislative outreach materials, including action alerts, advocate and legislator briefs, communicating and providing assistance to legislators and other policy makers, providing technical assistance during the bill drafting process, and helping to build and assist coalitions in support of legislation. Responsibilities may also include direct lobbying, outreach and the preparation of training materials for law enforcement and others. Deadline: December 24, 2010. Summer Fellowship Now Available


The Section of Antitrust Law sponsors a summer fellowship program, named the Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Project, honoring the memory of the late Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. Each of the 20 selected students will serve for a minimum of eight weeks in the consumer protection department of a participating State Attorney General Offices during the summer of 2011.


Students will receive a $5,000 stipend for the summer. The program also offers an optional small supplemental housing/travel allowance for those students who are not living at home for the summer.


The application period is (November 15, 2010 until January 31, 2011).

For students interested in immigrant rights


The Michael Maggio Immigrants' Rights Summer Fellowship was established jointly in 2009 by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Center for Human Rights and Constitutional Law (CHRCL), and the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild (NIP/NLG), to commemorate the life and legal contributions of Michael Maggio.

Michael Maggio was an extraordinary immigration attorney and individual who was a lifelong advocate for justice, equality, and peace. Throughout his career, Michael received countless professional awards and was honored for his extraordinary legal representation, astute strategizing, unwavering commitment to the highest ethical standards, and his deep passion for justice and upholding the rule of law. Michael died in February 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer.

The first Maggio Immigrants' Rights Summer Fellow completed her service at the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation (CRLAF), located in the San Joaquin Valley, in 2010. One summer fellowship will be awarded to a law student each year.

The primary mission of the fellowship program is to strengthen law students' long-term commitment to promote justice and equality for vulnerable immigrant groups. Fellows will be chosen by the three sponsoring organizations, and will be selected based on the strength of their proposed host site and project.

Public Interest Fellowship Available!


PAID K&L Gates Public Interest Fellowship now available

The Pittsburgh Foundation and K&L Gates LLP are proud to offer the K&L Gates Public Interest Fellowship Program. The fellowship was established in September 1999 to offer law students the opportunity to assist public service organizations located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Each summer, the program awards up to three successful candidates a fellowship that enables them to spend four weeks of their summer working at one of four designated public interest organizations.
The Pittsburgh Foundation's K&L Gates Fund provides the funding for the fellowships. K&L Gates established the fund in 1996 with the firm's $250,000 contribution to The Pittsburgh Foundation. Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Education Law Center, KidsVoice and Neighborhood Legal Services have teamed with The Pittsburgh Foundation to offer placement opportunities to K&L Gates Fellows.

Allegheny Conference on Community Development. Provides research, analysis, planning and development to improve the economy and quality of life in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Education Law Center. Provides free legal assistance and advice to parents, advocates and other professionals on issues of public education. KidsVoice. Provides legal representation to abused, neglected and other at-risk children. Neighborhood Legal Services Association. Provides legal representation to poor and vulnerable residents of Western Pennsylvania who have financial, landlord-tenant, domestic violence or other legal problems.

Fellowship Stipend
In 2009, each recipient will be paid a stipend of $1,000/week (less applicable taxes). All stipend checks will be made payable to the student and mailed to the organizations at which they will be working. K&L Gates will pay a supplemental salary to any recipient who receives and accepts an offer to spend the remainder of the summer as a K&L Gates summer associate. The supplemental salary and stipend will equal the weekly salary of K&L Gates' summer associates during the fellowship period. K&L Gates fellows however, are not required to spend the rest of the summer with K&L Gates.

Law Students for Reproductive Justice (LSRJ) is launching a new, funded fellowship program for current 3Ls and recent law school graduates interested in working to advance reproductive justice.

The Reproductive Justice Fellowship Program (RJFP) will enhance capacity at reproductive justice organizations working to influence law and policy and build a pipeline for future reproductive justice lawyers. Six (6) RJ Fellows will be paid $50,000 plus benefits and placed with host organizations in Washington DC for a year-long program (starting in August 2010) that includes mentoring, professional development, training, and networking opportunities.

Start Your Applications!!!


The Florida Bar Foundation’s 2010 Legal Aid Summer Fellowship application is now available on-line. Please note that the application deadline date is January 21, 2010. Applications submitted after January 21, 2010 will not be considered. The Florida Bar Foundation’s Legal Aid Summer Fellowship Program is a great opportunity for law students to work at a Florida legal aid program for eleven weeks during the summer to get hands-on experience while solidifying their commitment to practicing public interest law upon graduation.

Important Application Information:
Applications are accepted via the on-line application form located on the Foundation’s website (http://www.flabarfndn.org/). Students are encouraged to have their application reviewed by a Career Services Counselor prior to submission.

Selection Criteria:
Among the several factors to be considered in the selection of successful applicants are:
 The depth and breadth of the applicant’s commitment and experience in working with the low-income community;
 The applicant’s passion, insight, and personal commitment to public service and pro bono work;
 The applicant’s background and personal story, including their minority status, cultural diversity, and poverty experience;
 The applicant’s future career goals and employment objectives;
 The thoughtfulness, care, and clarity the applicant puts into completing the application; and
 The applicant’s writing skills and academic achievements.

Where Can the Application be Found:
The on-line application and other materials can be found in several places on the Foundation’s website (http://www.flabarfndn.org/ ), by looking in the News from the Foundation section and the Grant Programs section of the homepage.

The on-line application can also be found on the Foundation’s website by following these steps:

2) scroll down to Law Student Assistance,
3) click on the Law Student Assistance button, and then
4) click on the Legal Services Summer Fellowship Program button.

Applicants will need to review and print out the 2010 Program Placement List (found at the Legal Services Summer Fellowship Program webpage) before submitting their application. Students may list up to 4 program placement preferences on their application.

Fellowship Opportunity - The 2010 Arthur C. Helton Fellowship Program


The American Society of International Law is pleased to announce the 6th Annual Arthur C. Helton Fellowship Program.

Law students, practicing lawyers, human rights professionals, scholars, and other individuals seeking assistance in conducting international fieldwork and law-related research are encouraged to apply.

Presidential Management Fellowship Now OPEN

The PMF Program is the premier program for leadership development in the public sector. Its purpose is to attract outstanding men and women to the federal service. Each year, the program draws Fellows from a variety of academic disciplines and career paths who have a clear commitment to excellence in the leadership and management of public policies and programs.The program provides a two-year federal government fellowship to individuals who have completed a graduate-level course of study at an accredited college or university. Since 1977, the PMF Program and its predecessor, the Presidential Management Intern ("PMI") Program, have been attracting outstanding graduate, law, and doctoral-level students to the federal service.The PMF Program is a passport to a unique and rewarding career experience with the federal government. It provides Fellows with an opportunity to apply the knowledge they acquired from graduate study. PMF assignments may involve public policy and administration, domestic or international issues, information technology, human resources, engineering, health and medical sciences, law, financial management and many other fields in support of public service programsNumbers per year: In recent years, the number of fellows has ranged between four hundred and six hundred.

Civil Rights Fellowship Available


Relman & Dane (formerly Relman & Associates), a civil rights law firm based in Washington, D.C., is accepting applications for the 2010-2011 Relman Civil Rights Fellowship--a one-year, litigation fellowship with our firm. Recent law school graduates and judicial clerks whose clerkships are ending in 2009 are eligible to apply. We created this year-long Fellowship to further our mission of providing clients with legal services of the highest quality while promoting social justice through vigorous enforcement of our nation’s civil rights laws. As a firm, we are committed to bringing cases that raise important civil rights issues on behalf of people of color, women, immigrants, gays and lesbians, people with disabilities, and families with children. Our areas of practice include fair housing, fair lending, police accountability, public accommodations, disability access, and employment discrimination. Fellows will be involved in all aspects of litigation, from developing and investigating cases to interviewing clients, drafting pleadings and appearing in court. Fellows will receive a salary of $50,000 and full benefits.

Environmental Fellowship Available


The Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc. (NRDC), is a leading nonprofit environmental group with more than 1.2 million members and online activists. Offices are located in New York, Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Beijing, and employ a staff of nearly 350 includes lawyers, scientists, policy analysts and educators, all working to protect the environment and public health.


NRDC is seeking a recent law school graduate to be a Charles Koob Legal Fellow. This two-year position is available starting in September 2010. He or she will work on litigation, in federal and/or state courts, addressing a variety of significant environmental problems, including air and water pollution, other public health threats, threats to natural resources, and environmental injustices. NRDC represents both its own members and a range of outside clients, including neighborhood associations, regional grassroots organizations, and environmental, labor, and public health groups.

The Fellow will work under the direction of senior attorneys and with other NRDC staff on all phases of litigation, from case development through trial and appeals. The Fellow may also engage in some administrative advocacy, policy analysis and research, and legislative analysis.
The fellowship will be based in either NRDC's Washington, DC, or San Francisco office. We will do our best to honor an applicant's location preference.
