Exciting Opportunity!


The U.S. Attorney Office applicaiton deadline is rapidly approaching. The deadline for submitting application materials for a credit bearing externship is 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26th. While 1Ls who will have completed all 1st year required courses by the beginning of the summer are eligible, 2Ls are especially encouraged to apply. The GPA requirement for this externship placement is a 2.75.

Interested students should submit a cover letter, resume, unofficial transcript, writing sample and the U.S. Attorney's Office pre-interview questionnaire to Cleopartra Smith (in the Clinic Office - Room 255) by the application deadline. The cover letter should include your geographical preference---Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando or Fort Meyers. The cover letter should be addressed to the following:

United States Attorney's Office Summer Externship Available!


Students with at least a 2.5 gpa who will have completed all 1st year required courses at the end of this semester and are U.S. Citizens, are invited and encouraged to apply for a credit bearing (up to 6 credit hours) summer externship with the office of the U.S. Attorney. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain practical legal experience, especially in the criminal area. Positions are available in the Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando and Fort Myers offices.

Interested students must complete an application packet consisting of a cover letter (letter of interest), resume, unofficial transcript, writing sample and USAO pre-interview questionnaire. Blank questionnaires are available in the clinic office, Room 255. Your cover letter should state the city for which you wish to be considered and you may only indicate one city choice. Make sure that your e-mail address and daytime telephone number are provided. Your cover letter should be addressed to the following

Central Florida Diversity Picnic

The Second Annual Central Florida Diversity Picnic is set for Saturday, February 28, from 1– 4 p.m. at the Stetson University College of Law, Tampa Law Center, located at 1700 North Tampa Street in Tampa. Students from all Florida law schools are invited to attend the event, which allows law students from diverse backgrounds an opportunity to meet and establish mentoring relationships with attorneys and members of the judiciary from Central Florida.
